I found about this place while researching another drive-thru coffee joint and discovered it was sitting abandoned not far from home so I went and checked it out. It looked like it was really cool and is mostly intact. It could probably re-opened. It was owned and operated by the Nelson family according to a 1993 article in the Livingston County Daily Press and Argus.
It was opened in 1990, and was getting 200 cars per day at that time. There were 20 varieties of gourmet coffee including espresso and cappuccino. The Nelson's made their own muffins, bagels and cinnamon rolls. They served ice cream and frozen yogurt in the warmer months. They also owned a construction business. I am not sure when Coffee Express closed. This location was also Sandy's Coffee Spot in the later 1990's.
