General Information:

As far as I know, George Kirkpatrick's miniatures are gone.

From the Grand Rapids Press Sept 1970:

The late George Kirkpatrick Of Kalkaska was a folk artist. On his lawn at the Honey Market house in Kalkaska, he built Mount Vernon and Philadelphia's Independence Hall, carefully scaled replicas Of the real buildings. He began his miniature village. with typical pioneer homes. The buildings grew in number until they formed a whole community around a little pool. Children could feel like Gulliver, playing there by day. At night, adults came from miles around to see the little village with lights glowing inside each structure.

Kirkpatrick raised bees for a living and was the inventor of creamed honey. As a hobby he made inlaid tables, church pulpits, even violins. His miniature houses are in disrepair, but the present tenants of his home still sell honey as he did. A tall and stately man, Kirkpatrick died in 1953 at the age of 94, but his tiny town lives on as a landmark in the northern community.
